The number of neuroantomical areas affected by BSE- associated PrP Sc deposits at four different coronal levels. C1, C2, C3 and C4 correspond to medulla, midbrain, thalamic and frontal coronal levels respectively. These four coronal levels (C1-C4) are routinely used in TSE strain typing studies. The content of BSE in the BSE/scrapie mixtures was 1% (blue columns), 2% (red columns), 10% (amber columns) and 50% (brown columns). Error bars indicate SEM.
