PAI-1 deficiency is associated with reduced levels of serotonin and dopamine. Concentrations of serotonin (5-HT), noradrenalin (NA) and dopamine (DA) in PAI-1 knockout mice (PAI-1−/−) and their wild-type littermates (PAI-1+/+). Ultra-high-pressure liquid chromatography coupled with tandem-mass spectrometry was performed in the prefrontal cortex (a), hippocampus (b), hypothalamus (c) and dorsal raphe (d). n = 5 for each structure / genotype.
