Summary of the experimental timeline, neuropathic pain model and testing groups. a A daily timeline indicates the procedures that a rat undergoes for both the 12-day test group and the 18-day test group. Mechanical stimulus-evoked pain-like hypersensitivity testing (b1), surgery (b2), tail vein injection of treatment (b3), live-animal NIRF imaging, and recovery of tissue for analysis (b4). Sciatic nerve and DRG (RL4 and RL5) tissue is collected from the animal following euthanasia and perfusion-fixation on day-12 and day-18 (a, b4). Test groups are split into time-points of day-12 and day-18, each with groups of CCI and sham surgery rats (c). The surgery groups are further divided into rats that are treated with drug-free nanomedicine (DF-NE) and those treated with celecoxib nanomedicine (CXB-NE) (c)
