Schematic of methods used in this study. Formalin fixed paraffin embedded human tissue samples containing the hippocampus were used in this study (n = 5/group; all with advanced AD neuropathology [A3, B3, C3]). Laser capture microdissection was used to microdissect plaques or neighboring non-plaque tissue, LC–MS was used to quantify proteins present in each sample and various bioinformatics approaches were used to identify plaque enriched proteins and pathway or cell-type enrichment.
