Interactions of age and stage of dementia. Interactions are illustrated by a combination of scatterplots of age-associated decline in neuronal number and segmentation of the period from 26 to 72 years of age with staging of dementia in the DS cohort, including subjects with no signs of dementia and with mild, moderately severe, and severe dementia. Each of the four stages is defined by a regression-fitted line and a 95% confidence interval.
