Expression of mRNA and proteins involved in autophagy is decreased. a. Representative western blots of the proteins investigated in b and d for three patients with hypoPP and normal controls (Control). b. Several proteins involved in autophagy were decreased in hypoPP patients suggesting a systemic suppression of expression in the hypoPP patients and EEA1, an early endosomal marker demonstrated a trend toward a decrease (p < 0.06). c. mRNA analysis demonstrated that expression of selected autophagy genes was decreased. d. Protein expression of the master regulator of autophagy gene expression, TFEB, and level of phosphorylation at the nuclear translocation related serine 142 and 211 demonstrates that there is no difference between patients and controls in terms of ratio of phosphorylated serines to total level of TFEB
