Fatty acid desaturases are upregulated in CSCs and required for CSC survival. A GBM CSCs and non-CSCs have notable differences in phosphatidylinositol species. In particular, CSCs have reduced arachidonic acid (AA) levels but increased levels of its precursor DGLA.
