CAA in aged pinniped brains (case No. 9). Congo red-positive amyloid deposition was observed on the blood vessels of the meninges (a) and cerebral cortex (b). These deposits showed typical apple-green birefringence under polarized light (inset). Immunohistochemically, amyloid deposits of the vessel wall were positive for Aβ40 (c), Aβ42 (d), AβpN3 (e), AβN1 (f), and ApoE (g). Scale bars: 100 μm (a); 50 μm (b–g)
