Correlation between percentage of p-PERK+ and p-eIF2α + neurons and tau load or amyloid load in AD cases. For each region, the percentage of p-PERK+ or p-eIF2α + neurons was plotted against tau load (a-e) and beta-amyloid load (f-j) for each case. A non-parametric Spearman’s correlation test determined that there was no significant correlation between the percentage of p-PERK+ or p-eIF2α + neurons and tau load in any of the regions assessed. Similarly, there was no significant correlation between the percentage of p-PERK+ or p-eIF2α + neurons and amyloid load in the AONb, AONi, EC and CA1. However, there was a significant moderate positive correlation between the percentage of p-eIF2α + neurons and amyloid load in the piriform cortex
