Procedure used to scan individual free-floating 100 μm thick sections with ultra-high-resolution MRI. The part of the section containing the microinfarct was dissected from the hemisphere section, coverslipped with saline, and imaged in a custom-made Plexiglas chamber in the MRI scanner. After completion of the scans, the section was processed for histological staining
