Examination of tau phosphorylation sites in GVDs. Double immunofluorescence of two adjacent sections from the CA1 of an AD case (#18) with four p-tau specific antibodies: Ser212/Thr214 (AT100, FITC), Ser262 (Cy3), Ser202/Thr205 (AT8, FITC), Ser422 (Cy3). Neurofibrillary tangles (arrows) and neuropil threads (arrowheads) are stained with all four antibodies. The magnified neuron is stained with all four antibodies, and only the Ser262 site can be observed in granular deposits in the cytoplasm (arrowheads in inset), corresponding to GVDs. Intraneuronal accumulation of fibrillar tau is stained with all antibodies. Scale bar: 25 μm.
