Data are from 3 mice per group; mice were analyzed between 250–280 days post-infection with RML scrapie as described in the Methods. Area counted: Uninfected = 5.63 mm². Scrapie-infected = 9.01 mm². There was a highly significant difference in numbers of capillaries versus arteries plus veins associated with FITC-OVA (Table 5) versus PrPres (Table 1) in scrapie-infected mice (P < 0.0001) by two-tailed Fischer’s exact test.
