After focal demyelination produced in the ventral mouse spinal cord by the infusion of lysolecithin, the testosterone-dependent remyelination of axons by oligodendrocytes was accompanied by an increase in astrocytes expressing CXCR4 and the androgen receptor within the demyelinated area.
